Costs and Financial Aid Information
Fees
The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees. Visit www.calstate.edu/budget/student-fees for more information.
The following fees are required for each term of the program. (These fees are based on the State University Fee authorized by the California State University Board of Trustees for the 2010/11 Academic Year.)

Applying for Financial Aid Any student may apply for financial aid. Financial aid may include grants (such as Federal Pell Grants or State University Grants) or loans. To apply for financial aid, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Be sure to answer the following questions on the FAFSA according to the instructions below:
FAFSA Question 23 Students should enter 7 in this box (for teaching credential program). This response will be critical to establishing eligibility for a Federal Pell Grant.
FAFSA Question 24 Students should enter 5 in this box (for 5th year/other undergraduate).
FAFSA Question 49 Students should enter "No" in this field.
FAFSA Question 97 (a-h) Students must enter the federal school code for the CSU campus and regional center that serves the school or school district in which they are employed. The location of your employment determines the code, not your home address. (If you are seeking employment, enter the code(s) for the area(s) in which employment is anticipated.) Review the list below to determine the federal school code for your region.
Fresno Regional Center (CSU, Fresno - Code: 001147) If your teaching assignment is in any of the following counties, you will be assigned to the Fresno Regional Center: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Lassen, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tulare, Tuolumne, Yolo, and Yuba.
Monterey Bay Regional Center (CSU, Monterey Bay - Code: 032603) If your teaching assignment is in any of the following counties, you will be assigned to the Monterey Bay Regional Center: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma.
Los Angeles Regional Center (CSU, Los Angeles - Code: 001140) You will be assigned to the Los Angeles Center if you are employed in a teaching position in Ventura County or all parts of northern (Lancaster, Palmdale), western, and central Los Angeles County west of the 605 Freeway.
Fullerton Regional Center (CSU, Fullerton - Code: 001137) You will be assigned to the Fullerton Center if you are employed in a teaching position in the following counties: Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and all cities in Los Angeles County east of the 605 Freeway.
Codes For Applicants Who Have Not Secured A Teaching Position If you have not secured employment as a teacher and do not know which code to use, use the code for each of the regions in which you will seek employment. This will ensure that your FAFSA is sent to all campuses that could serve you.
FAFSA Follow Up Procedure Applicants who wish to use a federal loan to pay their CalStateTEACH fees should follow this procedure:
- Complete the online FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
- A "Student Aid Report" or SAR will be sent to you after your application has been processed. You will need to verify to the federal processor that the information is or is not complete and accurate. You will also need to provide a signature. The SAR will arrive 4 to 6 weeks after your application.
- About 10-14 days after you have verified the accuracy of your SAR and submitted your signature to the federal processor, your FAFSA will be sent electronically to the universities listed on your federal school code list.
- When you have been admitted to CalStateTEACH, you will be asked to include a copy of your SAR showing the proper federal school code for your geographic location with your registration form for term one.
- You will then be allowed to register.
- At the beginning of the term, you will need to contact the campus financial aid office to complete all necessary forms unless you have already received the forms directly.
- After your aid has been processed by the campus associated with your regional center, a disbursement will be made to you. You then must pay your fees.
Note: Some campuses will deduct your CalStateTEACH fees from your disbursement and send them directly to the program.
