CalStateTEACH Faculty and Administrators

CalStateTEACH employs approximately 60 full and part time faculty. They are CSU faculty members who have special skills teaching in this unique internet supported model. The faculty have a wealth of experience as former teachers and administrators, and CalStateTEACH is committed to providing ongoing professional development so the faculty can maintain their up-to-date expertise.

CalStateTEACH faculty are trained in the Haberman Foundation's Star Teacher Selection Interview process to identify the best candidates for admission to CalStateTEACH. Additionally they attend a variety of educational association conferences.

Each year, the faculty attend a CalStateTEACH professional development conference. This conference is designed specifically for CalStateTEACH, and focuses on curriculum, technology and other areas critical to teacher preparation.

Administration
Dr. Sharon E. Russell is the Systemwide Director of the CalStateTEACH Program.  She has directed teacher preparation programs at various institutions. In California, she has been an active participant in the Learning to Teach Continuum, directing a multi district university intern program, starting a university-school district Pre-Intern Collaborative, participating in BTSA/Induction programs as a consultant, and establishing a Teacher Residency Program. Her latest research studies the tension between school reform movements and teacher preparation, adolescent English learners, and technology in second language acquisition pedagogy.
