Compared to a traditional program, the time I spend with CalStateTEACH is more productive. I have a lot of tools to apply directly to the classroom. I have two girls (12 and 9) and a four year old son. I have to compete for Internet time with my daughters, so I need to be able to work on assignments at different hours.

CalStateTEACH is a non-traditional program that offers both a student teaching and an intern program for qualified candidates interested in earning their credential without attending traditional college classes. Instead, the curriculum is delivered online.

Participants use web, print and CD-ROM materials. They share ideas through web-based “class discussions,” and get professional feedback through on-site coaching. CalStateTEACH participants enjoy personal guidance from mentor teachers at their school site as well as CSU faculty. They communicate and share ideas with other participants via a special web site.

Student Teaching Option
Candidates not employed as a teacher of record have the opportunity to participate in the student teaching option. Student teachers conduct fieldwork during terms 1 and 2 and student teaching during terms 3 and 4 in sites selected by the Regional Centers in cooperation with local public school districts. If you are not employed as a contracted teacher in a multiple subject setting and wish to participate in CalStateTEACH, you are automatically enrolled in the student teaching option.

Employed Teacher Option
If you're currently teaching in a California K-12 multiple subject classroom and you need a credential, OR if you are seeking a teaching job and expect to be employed in a multiple subject classroom in time to start the program, CalStateTEACH also offers an employed teacher path to your credential.
